05/06/2018 - Green vs. Gray Tie 3-3 in 2018 Alumni Game

PROCTOR -- The Greens and Grays played to a 3-3 tie in seven innings in the 3rd Annual Alumni Game on Saturday.

The Grays got on the scoreboard first when Ian Scherber (Class of '12) hit an RBI single that scored Michael Gales (Class of '15). The Grays went ahead 2-0 in the fifth. Gales scored when Pat Everson (Class of '11) hit an RBI triple.

James Ostrander (Class of '09) scored a run for the Greens in the bottom of the fifth on an RBI double by Kyle Wojtysiak (Class of '05). The Greens tied the score 2-2 in the sixth when Brian Tracey (Class of '15) scored on an RBI fielder's choice by Anthony Bush (Class of '94).

The Grays went ahead 3-2 in the seventh when Jake Lewis (Class of '12) scored on a sacrifice fly by Ian Scherber.

Wojtysiak led off the bottom of the seventh with a double and he scored on an RBI single by Reed Olson (Class of '10).

Anthony Bush pitched the first five innings for the Greens. He allowed two unearned runs on seven hits and one walk with four strikeouts. Alex Oachs (Class of '11) pitched the last two frames for the Greens. He allowed one unearned run on one hit and one walk with three strikeouts.

Lewis pitched the first five innings for the Grays. He allowed one run on five hits and two walks with two strikeouts. Justin Smith (Class of '07) pitched the last two innings for the Whites and allowed two runs (one earned) on two hits and two walks with no strikeouts. 

Ian Scherber and Everson led the Whites with two hits apiece. Scherber hit a double and Everson had a double and a triple. They each had an RBI. Matt Tracey (Class of '16), Gales, Lewis, and Brayden Rohweder (Class of '20) each had one hit for the Whites.

Wojtysiak and Olson had two hits apiece for the Greens. Wojtysiak had two doubles. Oachs, Nathan Pavlowich (Class of '97), and Anthony Bush each had one hit for the Greens. Pavlowich hit a double.

The Whites lineup: Matt Tracey, Gales, Lewis, Ian Scherber, Everson, Kyle Cotrell (Class of '08), Smith, Aaron Pinney (Class of '15), and Rohweder -- who DH'ed for the injured Drew Scherber (Class of '07). Cotrell and Lewis did the catching.

The Greens lineup: Ostrander, Oachs, Wojtysiak, Pavlowich, Olson, Brian Tracey (Class of '15), Josh Schubitzke (Class of '94), Caleb Maki (Class of '08), and Anthony Bush. Schubitzke did the catching.

Nathan Bush (Class of '96) did the umpiring. Josh Stanley (Class of '16) was the honorary captain for both teams.

The Rails coaching staff, which includes Wojtysiak, Anthony Bush, Lewis, and Drew Scherber, extends their appreciation and thanks to all the alumni and fans in attendance.
