Proctor first offered baseball in 1938. The Rails lost the District 26 championship to Cloquet that season (the runner-up trophy is on display at PHS!). The program went dormant until Minnesota State High School League baseball became active in 1947. Since then, Proctor has had a baseball team for all but two years: 1953, because Coach Henry Chapman was serving overseas in the Korean War, and 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
