DAVID ROY WARD SR.

David Roy Ward, Sr. died July 31, 2013, peacefully and without pain in hospice care in Scottsdale, Ariz.

He was born Oct. 7, 1929 in Proctor, Minn., the son of Larsh and Eva Brayden Ward.

His siblings were Donald H. Ward, Alice Ward Drazich, Jack Ward, Larsh Ward, Jr., and his only remaining sibling, Tom Ward, of Duluth. Dave graduated from Proctor High School.

In 1950, Dave married Donnis Eileen Foster, and began his work as a machinist for the Duluth, Missabe, and Iron Range Railway.

They moved to Highland Park, Ill. Dave worked for 30 years as a machinist lathe operator for Tractormotive, which became Caterpillar.

When his sons were young, he was very active with the Cub Scouts, and was a Cub Master.

After retirement, Dave worked for himself for the next 30 years as a handyman in the Scottsdale area.

He is survived by his three sons, David, Jr., Dan, and Duane, and his daughter, Jayne.

CELEBRATION OF LIFE: 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6, 2013 at Black Woods Convention Center in Proctor. Private burial will be held at Oneota Cemetery in Duluth.
