2023 Section 7AA Playoffs Preview
Proctor (#6) faces Mesabi East (#7) in the elimination bracket at Rock Ridge High School on Thursday, June 1, at 4:30 p.m.
Proctor is 12-9 and averages 6.4 runs scored and 4.1 runs allowed per game. The Rails defeated Greenway/Nashwauk-Keewatin, 7-3, before losing to Duluth Marshall, 3-1, on Tuesday.
Mesabi East is 14-8 and averages 5.7 runs scored and 4.8 runs allowed per game. The Giants defeated Moose Lake-Willow River, 7-6, before losing to Rock Ridge, 10-0, on Tuesday.
The teams have never met in the playoffs. Mesabi East was formed when Aurora-Hoyt Lakes merged with Biwabik in 1988. Proctor defeated Aurora-Hoyt Lakes in the first round of the 1976 playoffs, en route to the Rails' first trip to the state tournament.
The winner advances to play again at 7pm.
