HIBBING, Minn.-- Landon Sanders's single drove in Austin Audette with two outs in the top of the ninth inning to break a 2-2 tie and Thief River Falls hung on to defeat Proctor in the opening game of the Mike Bugliosi Wood Bat Tournament.

Winning pitcher Turner Storm had 10 strikeouts in eight innings. He allowed one earned run on five hits, one walk, and one hit batsman. Jake Leier pitched a perfect ninth inning for the save.

Freshman John Aase, making his first varsity start, went the distance for the Rails. He allowed two earned runs on six hits, nine walks, and one hit batsman. Aase had four strikeouts.

Sanders was 2-for-5 for the Prowlers.

Proctor's Cody Lewis was 2-for-4 with two runs and Matt Morris was 2-for-3 with two RBI.
