ASHLAND -- Proctor, leading 2-1 through five innings, scored six runs in the sixth to open an 8-1 lead and hung on to defeat Ashland, 9-3, in a Lake Superior Conference baseball game at Lumberjack Field.

Winning pitcher Michael Gales allowed one earned run on four hits and two walks with nine strikeouts in six and two-thirds innings. Brian Tracey had two hits and Johnny Kehtel had two RBIs for Proctor, and Dylan Pionk, Jake Malec, and Matt Morris each scored twice.

Hunter Gustafson had two hits, including a two-run triple, for Ashland.

Losing pitcher Eric Yachinich allowed one earned run on three hits and four walks in five innings. He had nine strikeouts.

Proctor (3-1) travels to Esko on Friday.
