HIBBING -- Riley Versich hit a two-out walk-off single down the third baseline, scoring Logan Radovich, to give Hibbing a 3-2 victory over Proctor Saturday afternoon in the Mike Bugliosi Wood Bat Tournament at Hibbing.

Radovich singled with one out in the bottom of the seventh and advanced to second base on Trevor Erickson's single. A ground out to the right side advanced the base runners to second and third before Versich's grounder hit a divot along the baseline in foul ground and caromed into fair territory just past the reach of Proctor's third baseman, Brian Tracey.

Travis Carruth earned the win. He allowed zero earned runs in a complete game effort. Carruth allowed eight hits, two walks, and a hit batsman. He had five strikeouts.

Proctor struck first in the top of the first. The Rails had three hits in the inning including two doubles, but it was a two-out error that gave the Rails a 2-0 lead in support of starter John Aase. Aase held Hibbing hitless into the fifth inning before Radovich singled and stole second with one out. Erickson's single advanced Radovich to third, and Radovich put Hibbing on the board by scoring on Beau Wells's RBI sacrifice bunt on a safety squeeze play.

Hibbing knotted the score at 2-2 in the sixth. The Bluejackets' Jeff Courneya singled with one out, and advanced to second on a single by Ethan Bayless. Bayless was forced out on a fielder's choice by Andy Kolder, setting up a first-and-third situation with two outs. After two strikes to batter Jaimin Lamphere, Kolder performed an early-break steal attempt. Kolder was out in a run-down play, but not until after Courneya scored the tying run.

Radovich had two hits and two runs and Erickson had two hits for Hibbing. Proctor's Matt Morris had three hits, including a double, and Michael Gales had two hits. Proctor's Jake Malec was 0-for-3 with a hit-by-pitch, which ended his hit streak at 14 consecutive games.

Aase (4-3 W-L, 2.36 ERA) allowed three runs on seven hits and one walk in six and two-thirds innings. He had four strikeouts.

Proctor, now 9-7, hosts Duluth Denfeld on Tuesday in a Lake Superior Conference game.
