DULUTH -- A classic pitchers' duel resulted in the final chapter of the Proctor Rails 2015 baseball season, as Duluth Marshall triumphed over Proctor, 1-0, in an elimination game at Wade Stadium on Thursday, May 28.

Winning pitcher Derrick Winn tossed six and two-thirds shutout innings in his first varsity start. His counterpart, Proctor's Brandt Forstrom, was making just his second start of the season and fourth of his varsity career.

Winn had five strikeouts and allowed four hits and two walks. Forstrom (1-2 W-L, 3.15 ERA) allowed one run on six hits and four walks with 10 strikeouts in seven innings.

Marshall's Jon Hansen led off the top of the fourth with a double and scored the game's only run on an RBI single by Cullen Mudrak.

Proctor threatened in the bottom of the seventh. Forstrom reached on an error with two outs and Matt Tracey singled, putting the tying run on second and the winning run on first. Peter Lenz then relieved Winn. Lenz earned a save when he got a strikeout on the one batter he faced.

Mudrak had two hits and Proctor's Nathan Carlson also had two hits.

Proctor finished the season with a 12-11 record. Marshall, now 16-8, faces Hermantown on Tuesday at Hibbing.
