Proctor wins, shares LSC lead
Proctor's Dale Nikko and Cloquet's Mark Krzenski locked-up in a pitchers' duel Friday before the Rails' Mike Grover broke things up with a ninth-inning base hit to give Proctor a 3-2 victory.
Four of the five runs were unearned as Krzenski struck out eight and allowed just three hits; while Nikko, 5-0, fanned seven and gave up five hits. Each team scored a run without the benefit of a hit.
Cloquet had leads of 1-0 and 2-1. John Baublitz gave Proctor life with two outs in the bottom of the seventh by singling in Jeff Merling, who scored all three of the Rails' runs.
The victory puts Proctor in a first place tie with Central at 3-0 [sic] in the Lake Superior Conference. Overall Proctor is 7-2, Cloquet 6-2.
