Preview Recap
Proctor Rails 4, Duluth Denfeld 2

A pair of second-inning runs meant the difference Friday as Proctor defeated Denfeld 4-2 at Wade Stadium.

Both Lake Superior Conference teams had scored single runs in the first before the Rails took the lead for good. Jason Malec opened the second with a triple and then scored on a Tim Norton single. A Scott Pionk sacrifice fly brought home Norton later in the inning for a 3-1 lead.

Denfeld got within 3-2 in the sixth as losing pitcher Troy Wilander doubled home Les Pajari. Proctor added an insurance run in the seventh.

Denny Gulbranson, who struck out 11 Hunter batters, was the winning pitcher for Proctor, now 4-1 in the league. Denfeld is 2-2.
