Recap for the 05/26/1982 game vs. Hermantown

Preview Recap
Hermantown 8, Proctor Rails 7

Scott Ollila greeted Proctor relief pitcher Ray Miles with a double and Kevin Besser followed with the game-winning single as Hermantown stopped the Rails 8-7 in eight innings in Proctor Wednesday.

Miles replaced Proctor starter Jay Anderson, who had allowed two hits and struck out eight over seven innings. Anderson also hit a three-run homer in the first inning and drove in two runs with a double in the third.

Hermantown, 6-2 in the Lake Superior Conference and 11-3 overall, led 7-6 after six innings and escaped defeat in the bottom of the seventh.

The Rails, the defending LSC champions, trailed 7-6 in the bottom of the seventh before loading the bases with no outs against Hawk starter Mike Hady. A wild pitch brought in the tying run before Hady picked up one of his 14 strikeouts and Ollila turned Miles' line drive into an unassisted double play to end the inning.

Hady, who finished with a five-hitter, retired the side in order in the eighth.
