Baseball regular season ends today

Proctor baseball pounced on four of five opponents in marathon baseball action, putting the team on a winning track as action heads into post-season play on Tuesday.

Proctor 8, Greenway 6

On Wed., May 12, Proctor traveled to Greenway to take on the Raiders. Traditionally Greenway has been one of the toughest teams in the area, with several state tournament trips.

The Rails got on the scoreboard first when Seth Reinke blasted a single to left field. Two more short hits to left field by Kyle Wojtysiak and Jake Comnick found the bases loaded for Dan Carlson. The Rails' third baseman ripped a sacrifice fly to deep center field to send Reinke home with the first run of the game.

Greenway answered in the bottom of the first with a pair of runs.

Despite the Greenway lead, Proctor was undaunted as Dan Solarz scored in the second inning on an RBI single by Dustin Wiita.

From there the Rails went on to plate a pair of runs each in the third, sixth, and seventh innings to lock up the win. The Proctor defense bent a few times, but they never broke to hold down a handful of scoring opportunities for the Raiders...

[Wojtysiak worked six innings for the win. Carlson pitched one scoreless inning for the save.]
