BB splits with thriller over Virginia, heartbreaker to DC

by The Sports Guy

...But neither Jon Kent nor his teammates had an answer for Duluth Central three days later. Powered by the pitching heroics of Dean Bauers, who struck out 10 Rails, the visiting Trojans broke open a game that had seen Proctor maintain a slim 1-0 lead since the first inning to take a 4-1 lead after four. Kept off balance by Bauers and the DC defense, Proctor struggled the next three innings while the Trojans whittled away with singles and doubles. A two-run homer by Steve Voelkner in the top of the 7th iced the game with an 11-1 bulge that held up through the final Rails at-bats.
