PROCTOR -- Alex Oachs pitched a two-hitter with 10 strikeouts to lead the Rails over Pine City in the first round of the Section 7AA Playoffs at Proctor.
 
Ian Scherber singled to right field to bring home courtesy runner Jack Nikko in the second inning for Proctor's first run. The Rails added two runs in the third inning on an RBI double by Justin Scanlon and an RBI triple by Pat Everson. Proctor tacked on another run in the sixth inning when Scherber again hit a single scoring Nikko.
 
Pine City mustered one run in the seventh inning on two errors and a single.
 
Oachs (4-0, 1.22 ERA) retired the first 13 batters of the game before surrendering a walk and a single in the fifth inning. He faced 25 batters, four over the minimum for a seven-inning game.
 
Justin Scanlon had two doubles and Ian Scherber had two hits and two RBIs for Proctor.
 
Proctor will face International Falls in the second round of the Section 7AA Playoffs at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 2, at Proctor.
