TWO HARBORS -- The Rails' first seven batters scored in the top of the first inning as Proctor defeated Two Harbors 19-0 in a non-conference baseball game at Two Harbors. The game was called after five innings due to the 10-run rule.
 
Jake Lewis and Paul Hegstrom combined on a four-hit shutout. Lewis (1-1, 0.00 ERA) earned the win, having worked the first four innings. He allowed three hits with no walks and five strikeouts. Hegstrom allowed one hit in one inning pitched with no walks and no strikeouts in his first varsity pitching appearance.
 
Proctor's entire starting line-up tallied at least one hit as the Rails totaled 16 hits. Hegstrom, Ryan McCarthy, Ben Nelson, and Ian Scherber had two hits each. Hegstrom had two doubles and two RBIs. McCarthy and Jimmy Merling both had three RBIs. Merling, Nelson, and Scherber each scored three runs. Jesse Scanlon, Joe Carter, and Cody Dolsen had two RBIs apiece.
 
Losing pitcher Bill Sell worked one-third of an inning and allowed six earned runs on four hits and four walks. He had one strikeout.
 
Proctor scored 19 runs on 16 hits, with one error and eight left on base. Two Harbors scored zero runs on four hits, with four errors and three left on base.
 
Proctor (3-1), ranked #13 in Minn. Class AA, travels to Greenway on Tuesday. Two Harbors (3-4) is at Silver Bay on Tuesday.
