Proctor holds off East

Cory Ward drove in the eventual winning run in the bottom of the sixth inning Tuesday as Proctor beat Duluth East 9-8 in a Lake Superior Conference high school baseball game in Proctor.

Proctor, 5-2, led 8-6 in the fourth aided by Dan Hamski's two-run single and went up 9-7 in the sixth.

Hamski, a center fielder, scored Proctor's winning run, stole two bases and had four hits. Troy Warren had three hits and two RBIs.

Winning pitcher Anthony Bush went five innings and Warren earned the save, striking out four in two innings.

East, 3-6, was led by Nevada Torrence's three hits and Jesse Shimek's two-run double.
