Dan Hamski had a bases-loaded single with one out in the bottom of the eighth inning to knock in Scott McLeod and lift the Rails to the Section 7AA playoff win at Egerdahl Field in Proctor.

The Rails scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning with two outs to tie the game. Cory Ward had an RBI double and the second run came in on a fielder's choice.

The Hunters scored two runs in the top of the eighth inning but the Rails came back for the win with three runs in the bottom of the eighth.

Mike Gow and Mike Imhoff each had two hits for the Hunters, 5-15.

Troy Warren was the winning pitcher for the Rails, 8-8, who face Cambridge at 4:30 p.m. Thursday in Cambridge.

Defending 7AA champion Hibbing plays the winner of tomorrow's Princeton-Mora game Thursday in Hibbing. Princeton and Mora were rained out Tuesday.

Rails face Cambridge in Section playoff

The Proctor Rails (8-8) advanced in the Section 7AA playoffs.

They face Cambridge at 4:30 p.m. today (Thurs.) at Cambridge.

Tuesday the Rails defeated Duluth Denfeld 5 - 4 when Dan Hamski drove home Scott McLeod with a bottom of the eighth bases-loaded single.

The Hunters never recovered. Earlier it looked like a different story.

The Rails were down by two in the bottom of the seventh when Cory Ward had an RBI double. The second run scored on a fielder's choice. That tied the game.

Denfeld answered with two in the top of the eighth. Not to be denied, the Rails came back with three runs in the second half of the inning.

Troy Warren got the win for Proctor at Egerdahl Field.
