PROCTOR -- Proctor defeated Virginia, 11-1, in a non-conference baseball game. The game ended with one out in the bottom of the fifth because of the 10-run rule.

The Rails scored three runs in the first inning. Ben Harnell scored the first run from third when Bryce Huffman stole second. Blake Koski hit an RBI double and Ryan Lear hit into an RBI groundout.

Proctor plated four runs in the third for a 7-0 lead. Austin Parrott and Harnell delivered back-to-back RBI singles in the inning.

Virginia scored in the fourth when Jack Perala doubled, advanced to third on a wild pitch, and scored on an RBI groundout by Jordan Checco.

The first five Rails batters walked in their three-run fourth. Harnell hit an RBI single in the inning.

Zach Gunderson scored on a wild pitch in the fifth to end the game.

Mason Flick (2-0 W-L, 0.70 ERA) went the distance for the win. He allowed one run on six hits and one walk with one strikeout.

Harnell was 3-for-3 with two RBI. Huffman scored three runs. Gunderson batted 1-for-1 with four runs. Koski batted 1-for-3 with two runs and an RBI.

Losing pitcher Ryan Hujanen faced four batters without recording an out in the third. He allowed seven runs (six earned) on three hits and five walks in two innings.

Virginia used three pitchers and they combined for 14 walks.

Lucas Nordquist batted 0-for-3 to end his school-record hitting streak at 20 games.

Proctor (3-1 W-L) is back in action at home on Thursday, April 26, at 4:30 p.m. against Lake Superior Conference opponent Ashland.
