PROCTOR -- Aitkin defeated Proctor 4-3 in a non-conference baseball game on Thursday at Proctor. Nathan Ehnstrom tossed a complete game for the win. He allowed one earned run on seven hits and no walks with nine strikeouts.

Aitkin took a 1-0 lead in the third inning when Ehnstrom reached on a two-base error. He advanced to third base on a groundout to the pitcher and scored on Jake Lynn's sacrifice fly.

Proctor answered with a run in the bottom of the third when Jimmy Merling led off with a double and scored on Ben Nelson's single.

Aitkin went ahead 2-1 in the fourth on consecutive singles and a sacrifice fly, and padded its lead with two runs in the fifth on three hits and an error. Proctor scored twice in the bottom of the fifth when Merling led off by reaching on an error, stole second, and scored on Evan Scherber's RBI single. Scherber advanced to second on a fielding error on the relay throw, and later scored when Paul Hegstrom reached on an error.

Scherber was 3-for-4 with a run and an RBI.

Losing pitcher Matt Dolsen (1-2, 1.67 ERA) pitched five innings and allowed two earned runs on seven hits and one walk with three strikeouts. Matt Morris pitched two scoreless innings in relief.
