PROCTOR -- Proctor concluded its regular season with a 6-1 win over Duluth Denfeld in a Lake Superior Conference baseball game at home. Winning pitcher Jack Nikko (2-2, 2.62 ERA) threw a complete game five-hitter with two walks and four strikeouts.

Proctor's Evan Scherber scored on a wild pitch to give Proctor a 1-0 lead in the first inning. Denfeld tied the score at 1-1 in the second when Matt Klang scored on an RBI single by Trevor Otteson, but Proctor took the lead for good in the bottom of the second when Isaac Scherber scored on Evan Scherber's RBI single. Proctor added insurance runs in the third when Joe Carter's RBI single drove in Shane Gould, and in the fifth when Matt Dolsen scored on a fielder's choice error. The Rails added two more runs in the sixth on three walks, three wild pitches, and a balk.

Losing pitcher Wick Thompson allowed two earned runs on six hits and seven walks with two strikeouts in five innings.

Gould was 2-for-3 with a run scored, and Evan Scherber scored two runs and had an RBI for Proctor.

Proctor finished the regular season with an 8-5 record, marking the fourth consecutive winning season for the Rails.
