The Rails started the scoring in the first inning. Tanner Olson hit a two-run double, AJ Reyelts had a two-run single, and Josh Monreal connected for an RBI single for a 5-0 lead.

Cloquet's Zach Tyman cracked an RBI triple and later scored on a wild pitch to cut the lead to 5-2 after one complete inning.
