ELY -- Proctor (#4) defeated Eveleth-Gilbert (#5), 7-2, in a Section 7AA Playoffs baseball game here on Tuesday, June 1.
Winning pitcher Kennan Reyelts (2-2 W-L, 2.36 ERA) allowed one earned run on six hits and three walks with three strikeouts in a complete-game effort.
Eveleth-Gilbert scored a run in the top of the first on two hits, a walk, and one Proctor error. The Golden Bears went ahead, 2-0, with a run in the second frame on one hit, one walk, one stolen base, and one Proctor error.
Proctor took the lead with a three-run third. The inning featured consecutive doubles by Tanner Olson, Kennan Reyelts, and Nolan McLeod. Olson's two-bagger plated two runs to tie the score and McLeod's RBI put the Rails ahead, 3-2.
Conner Pavlowich hit a two-RBI double in the fourth for a 5-2 edge.
Carson Pavlowich, Olson's courtesy runner, scored on a passed ball and Blake Imhoff knocked in McLeod on a sacrifice fly in the fifth for the final runs.
Conner Pavlowich (2-for-3, two doubles, one run, two RBI) led Proctor.
Carter Mavec was tagged with the loss. He allowed three runs on three hits, a walk, and a hit batsman in two-thirds of an inning. Under the double-elimination format, Eveleth-Gilbert moves on to face Esko (#1) at UMD's Bulldog Park on Thursday, June 3.
Proctor (14-8) advances to the quarterfinals at UMD's Bulldog Park at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 3.
