GRAND RAPIDS -- Grand Rapids defeated Proctor, 6-3, in a Lake Superior Conference baseball game here on Thursday. The Thunderhawks broke a 2-2 tie with four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Winning pitcher Nolan Svatos worked the first six innings for the win. He allowed three runs (one earned) on three hits and one walk with two strikeouts. Garett Drotts, who releived Svatos with no outs and two runners on base in the seventh, recorded three straight outs to earn the save.

Proctor scored two runs in the top of the first on two Grand Rapids errors, two stolen bases, a wild pitch, and a Nick Terhaar sacrifice fly.

Grand Rapids tied the score with single runs in the first and second innings.

Ren Morque's sacrifice bunt on a squeeze play scored the go-ahead run in the sixth. Kyle Henke then delivered a two-RBI single.

Proctor starting pitcher Kennan Reyelts allowed two runs on six hits and five walks with three strikeouts in five innings. Reliever Wyatt Mineheine (0-1, 6.46 ERA) took the loss. He allowed four runs on three hits, one walk, and one hit batsman in two thirds of an inning.

Svatos is a cousin of Proctor coaches Anthony and Nathan Bush.

Proctor, 8-4, plays in Hibbing's Mike Bugliosi Wood Bat Classic on Friday and Saturday, May 20-21.
