PROCTOR -- Proctor defeated Rock Ridge, 5-2, in a non-conference baseball game here on Thursday. Tyler Berglund (1-0, 1.91 ERA) earned the pitching win in his first varsity start for his first career win. He allowed two runs on five hits and three walks with six strikeouts in five and one-third innings. Tanner Ross picked up his first career save by retiring all five batters he faced.

The Rails went ahead, 1-0, in the bottom of the first inning when Ross tripled with one out and scored on Ethan Carter's sacrifice fly.

Dylan Davidson singled with one out in the third, took second base on a wild pitch, and scored on an RBI double by Ross. Ross then scored from second on an RBI single by Carter for a 3-0 score.

Rock Ridge plated a run in the fourth, but the Rails answered with two of their own in the inning. Berglund led off with a double and advanced to third when Owen Baker reached on an error. Baker then stole second and Berglund scored on an error on the play, Baker took third on a wild pitch and scored on an RBI single by Zach Johnson (his first varsity hit).

Rock Ridge pushed across a run in the sixth before Ross slammed the door.

Ross, Carter, Berglund, and Johnson had two hits apiece and Carter had two RBI.

Proctor is now 2-1.
