Region 7AA Tournament, June 4-5, 1985, at Proctor

Proctor has hosted the Region 7AA Tournament just once, in 1985. The semifinals pitted Duluth East against Princeton and Duluth Denfeld-Morgan Park against North Branch. East and D-MP were both victorious, setting up an all-Duluth championship game. Unfortunately, the game was moved from 7:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. to accomodate for East's graduation ceremony that evening. Only 150 spectators saw East defeat D-MP, 11-10, at Egerdahl Field for the Region 7AA championship. East hadn't been to state since 1973. In fact, no other team besides Grand Rapids had represented Region 7AA at the state tournament since Proctor in 1976. East had knocked out eight-time defending champion Grand Rapids in the semifinals of the North sub-section playoffs. The Greyhounds successfully defended their Region 7AA title in 1986.
