PROCTOR -- Lucas Nordquist batted 0-for-3 with a walk in Monday's 11-1 win against Virginia, snapping a Rails record of 20 consecutive games with at least one hit.

He hit a sharp single up the middle in the first inning of Saturday's tilt against St. Cloud Cathedral to break the previous school record, John Aase's 19-game hitting streak of 2016-17. That hit was off pitcher Sam Hanson, a hard-throwing lefty and Minnesota State, Mankato, recruit that struck out nine Proctor batters in three innings.

He tied Aase's record in Friday's 11-0 win against Rush City when he batted 2-for-2 with two runs, three stolen bases, and an RBI.

Nordquist's streak began on May 2, 2017, in Proctor's 11-1 win against Moose Lake-Willow River at Moose Lake. The streak included five playoffs games in 2017.

He batted .429 during the streak (27-for-63), with 18 runs, four doubles, one triple, two home runs, and eight RBI.

In the game against Virginia, he walked in the first inning, bounced into a fielder's choice in the second, lined out to the second baseman for a double play in the third, and rolled a grounder to third for a fielder's choice in the fourth.

Nordquist's record is tied for 10th in state records. The state hitting streak record is 33 games by Deer River's Tim Gullickson from 1981-83.

Next up for Nordquist, a senior, is cracking the list for the Rails 50 Career Hits Club. He has 43 hits through Monday.
