09/12/2023 - Nick Terhaar Commits to Iowa

Proctor junior Nick Terhaar announced his commitment to play baseball for the University of Iowa on September 11, 2023. Terhaar has played varsity baseball for Proctor since 2021. A pitcher/third baseman from 2021-22, he converted to pitcher/outfielder in 2023.

Terhaar batted .368 and was 1-1 with a 2.69 ERA for the Rails in 2023. He carries a .308 batting average with 36 hits, 28 runs, seven doubles, 28 RBI, and nine stolen bases in his three-year varsity career. He has a 6-5 win-loss record with a 3.18 ERA in 13 career pitching appearances. He has 70 strikeouts in 55.0 innings pitched.

He was named to the All-Section 7AA Team in 2022 and the All-Lake Superior Conference Second Team in 2023. He was also a team captain in 2023.

Terhaar could become the fourth Rails player to play NCAA Division I baseball. Ted Downs (Class of 1939) played for the University of Wisconsin. Joe Lane (Class of 1962) played for the University of Minnesota. Jake Malec (Class of 2016) played for North Dakota State University.
