Christopher L. “Ed” Gagne

Services were held yesterday for Christopher L. “Ed” Gagne, who died Sat., July 22, 2000, at the age of 44 following a long battle with manic-depression.

He was born March 14, 1956, in Duluth to Robert L. and Dorothy (Chapinski) Gagne. He attended St. Rose Catholic School in Proctor and graduated from Proctor High School in 1974. He married Peggy L. St. Marie on Aug. 6, 1994, in Duluth.

He worked for the Duluth Missabe & Iron Range Railway for more than 25 years and was a warehouse foreman. He was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church, the Transportation and Communications International Union, and the DM&IR Veterans Association.

He was an avid fan of the Twins, Vikings, Dukes and the University of Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs. He had other passions, including painting, matting and framing pictures.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Stan and Gen Chapinski, paternal grandparents Andre and Lumina Gagne, and his brother Matthew Gagne on Feb. 15, 1991.

He is survived by his wife Peggy, a son Nathan of Duluth, his parents Bob and Dorothy Gagne of Proctor, three brothers Mark (friend Mary Jo Jobin) of Proctor, Paul (Marie) of Proctor and Peter (Brenda) of Ankeny, Iowa, a sister Mary Beth Stagner of Eagan, Minn., Nathan’s mother Laurie of Duluth, father-in-law and mother-in-law Ken and Lorraine St. Marie of Duluth, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews, uncles, aunts and cousins. He will be sadly missed by his loving walking companion Sadie.

Burial was in Oneota Cemetery.
