Ryan Jacob McCarthy, 26, of Proctor, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday February 13, 2020. He was born in Duluth on June 29, 1993 to Mark and Sharon McCarthy. Ryan graduated from Proctor High School Class of 2012, and was a member of the Proctor football, baseball and hockey teams. He continued to play baseball after high school for Mesabi Range College and then played while attending UWS. Ryan was working as a crisis manager with Stepping Stones For Living. Ryan’s greatest joy in life was spending time with his daughter Taylor. He enjoyed playing and coaching softball, fishing, bow hunting, camping, golfing, and time spent with his friends, and family.
Ryan was preceded in death by his uncle Wilmer Compton, maternal grandfather Wilmer “Red” Compton and his paternal grandfather Thomas McCarthy.
Ryan was survived by daughter Taylor McCarthy and her mother Linda Stevens, parents Mark and Sharon McCarthy, girlfriend Wing Lee, brothers James McCarthy (Fallon) and Lucas (Bobby Jo) McCarthy, nieces Emma and Maci McCarthy, maternal grandmother Ruthann Compton, paternal grandmother Bernadine “Bernie” McCarthy, an aunt Pamela Foran (Craig), uncles Tom (Becker) McCarthy, Pat McCarthy (Melissa), and Scott McCarthy (Jackie), many cousins and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday February 21, 2020 from 5PM to 7PM in Williams-Lobermeier-Boettcher Funeral Home, 3208 W. 3rd St. Duluth, MN 55806, 218-624-1059. Visitation will continue Saturday February 22, 2020 in the Funeral Home from 10AM until the 11PM Funeral Service.
