WAYNE DELANO JOHANSON

Wayne Delano Johanson, 79, died peacefully on Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012. He resided in Duluth.

He was born on April 21, 1933, in Proctor, Minn.

He was a graduate of Proctor High School and University of Minnesota Duluth. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He worked for Pillsbury Corporation, Superwood, and Georgia Pacific in his field of chemistry until he retired in 1992.

He is survived by his wife, Audrey; his brother, Bruce, from Ontonagon, Mich,; three children, Kristin (Holmes), Minneapolis, Tim Johanson, Chaska, Minn., and Amanda (McKeon), Coco Beach, Fla.; and six step-children, Donald (Kathy) Slosson, Hibbing, Bunny (Dennis) Krueger, Duluth, Carol (Gary) Walsburg, Proctor, Mary (Jerry) Prestin, Lakefield, Minn., Tod (Pam) Slosson, Superior, Wis.; 19 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Janice Johanson; his parents, John and Pearl Johanson; his older brother, John Johanson Jr., and great-granddaughter Taylor Schmucker.

Memorial Service: 11 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 9, 2012, in the Cremation Society in West Duluth. A reception and lunch will follow. Memorials to the St. Luke's Hospice Unit are requested in lieu of flowers.
