HIBBING, Minn. -- Jake Malec's RBI single plated John Aase from second base for the go-ahead run in the top of the tenth inning as Proctor defeated Hibbing, 5-4, in the closing game of Hibbing's Mike Bugliosi Wood Bat Tournament.

Winning pitcher Matt Morris (2-1, 4.36 ERA) worked nine innings and allowed one earned run on seven hits, no walks, and two hit batsmen. He had 10 strikeouts. Malec pitched the tenth for the save; he struck out three of the four batters he faced.

Malec broke up Hibbing starting pitcher Travis Carruth's no-hitter with a single with one out in the sixth inning. Carruth finished with two strikeouts and three runs allowed on five hits, five walks (one intentional), and one hit batsman in six-and-two-thirds innings. Reliever Ricky Brant was the losing pitcher. Brant allowed one run on four hits and one walk with two strikeouts in three-and-one-third innings.

Malec and Shane Gould had two hits apiece, while Evan Scherber had two RBIs and Aase scored two runs for Proctor. Hibbing's Jeff Courneya and Ethan Bayless had two hits each.
