...At Proctor, the Rails slapped the Cathedral Hilltoppers, 5-2, behind the one-hit pitching of Wayne Johanson. The Rails tucked the tilt away in the first frame when they scored four runs.

In that inning, the Rails rapped four singles, three of them by the first three men to face Hilltopper pitcher Beaudry.

Rails Lose to Cloquet, 5-0; Defeat Cathedral, 5-2

...After losing to Cloquet, the Rails bounced back to take a 5-2 decision over the Cathedral Hilltoppers on the local diamond Tuesday.

The Rails struck fast, as four out of the first five men got hits, and before the inning was over four runs had crossed the plate. From that time on the Rails were never in serious trouble.

Wayne Johanson was on the hill for Proctor and held complete master[y] of the game as he let up but one lone single in the first inning.
