Denfeld Wins On One-Hitter

Bill Nelson twirled a one-hitter yesterday as Denfeld trounced Proctor, 11-2, in a first-round game of the District 26 baseball tournament.

Wally Miller got the only extra base blow of the game played on Proctor's field. The Hunters' third baseman cracked a double.

Rails 9 Lose Their Only Game of '52

The Proctor High school baseball team lost its one and only game of the year to Denfeld 11-2 in the first round of the District 26 tournament.

Though outclassed, the Rails nevertheless managed to take full advantage of their opportunities. They got only two hits off the slants of Bill Nelson, Hunter hurler, but they translated them into runs.

Hessevick opened the fifth frame with a walk. Jack Holten [sic] John Hulten was safe on an error. Both advanced on Jim Norton's infield single. With the bases saturated, Hessevick walked home on a pass. Holten scored the second run on a fielder's choice.

Wally Miller of Denfeld got the only extra base blow, a double, in the game played on the local field.
