'Cats Nudged By Rails, 3-0

Proctor bunched its only three hits in the second inning to score the only runs of the game as the Rails nudged Morgan Park, 3-0, at Proctor yesterday in a tight high school baseball battle.

The Rails' Gerry Bakken stopped the Wildcats with a one-hitter, giving up a sixth-inning single to Jim Udovich. Morgan Park's Larry Peterson allowed singled to Bakken and Max Herrnberger and a double to Terry McGovern for his three-hitter.

In Proctor's three-run second, Bakken opened with a single, [Chuck Birch] walked and McGovern doubled in both mates. Then Herrnberger scored McGovern with a single.

Bakken struck out six, walked two and had two errors committed behind him while Peterson fanned five, walked one and had one bobble committed by his defense.
