High School Team Drops First Game to Esko, 4-1

Proctor's high school baseball team got off to a rugged start in the initial game of the season, losing to Esko, 4-1, on the Eskomos' diamond Tuesday.

Don Donald Fontaine put on a brilliant performance for his first attempt at pitching. He walked three men, struck out 10, and gave up four hits. Five Proctor errors, three of which came in the first inning, proved the margin of victory. Larry Brett, Dale Erickson and Floyd Anderson got the three Proctor hits.

Bob Siekkula got a triple in the first inning to drive in two of Esko's runs. Pykkonen was the winning pitcher.

Next game on tap for the high school nine will be held this Friday at 5:30 p.m., when the Rails meet Cloquet on Missabe Athletic field.
