PROCTOR -- Ashland defeated Proctor, 8-1, in a Lake Superior Conference baseball game on Saturday, May 23, at Proctor. The game was rescheduled from an April 24 postponement.

Winning pitcher Wyatt O'Bey allowed one run on four hits and four walks with five strikeouts in five innings.

Ashland's John Sechen and Hunter Gustafson had three hits apiece, and Eric Yachinich had two hits.

Jordan Linder scored Proctor's lone run, on a double steal play. Blake Koski hit a double for the Rails, and Reid Morin, John Aase, and Nathan Carlson had singles.

Matt Tracey (0-1 W-L, 4.20 ERA) was tagged with the loss in his first varsity start. He allowed five runs (three earned) on nine hits and two walks in five innings. He had four strikeouts. Reliever Zach Gunderson made his varsity debut in the sixth inning.

Proctor finished the regular season with a 10-9 record, the tenth team in school history to reach 10 or more wins in a regular season.
