Rails' Soderberg Hurls No-Hitter

Duluth East ousted Big Ten champion Cloquet 11-8 and Proctor socked Cotton 20-1 on Chet Soderberg's no-hitter Wednesday in the District 26 high school baseball tournament at Wade Municipal Stadium.

East will play Proctor at 1:30 p.m. and Esko takes on Morgan Park at 4 p.m. in the semi-finals next Wednesday at Wade. The consolation and championship games are slated Thursday...

...Soderberg's no-hitter stopped Cotton, the South County champ, with but one run, and that was in the first inning on four walks. Soderberg walked six Cotton players as the losers left eight runners stranded.

Don Hanson belted a home run to the base of the centerfield flag pole with one on in the seventh. Soderberg helped his own cause with four hits.
