Proctor Tumbles Morgan Park Nine

Pitching miseries continued to plague Morgan Park and the Wildcats dropped an 8-4 Big Ten Conference high school baseball decision to Proctor at Wade Municipal Stadium Thursday afternoon.

The Wildcats, co-favorites in the Big Ten race this season, still are looking for their first victory after two starts.

Morgan Park carried a 4-2 lead into the fourth inning and after Proctor scored one in that frame, the Rails broke loose for four runs, thanks to a pair of Wildcat errors, in the fifth.

Seven walks and as many errors also contributed to the Morgan Park downfall, as the Wildcats outhit the winners, 9-5.

Gordy Johnson's double was the big blow among the Rails' five hits.

Dave McLeod banged out three hits for Morgan Park, one a triple that bounced off the wall 340 feet from home plate. Bill Watt and Pat Fairchild each had a pair of hits, one of Fairchild's also going for three bases.

Rick Johnson, who went the route on the mound for Proctor, struck out seven and walked only four. His mates commited but one error...
