Rick Johnson and Phil Benson tied up in a pitchers dual for five innings and Benson had a no-hitter going until the sixth and fatal inning for the Mariners.

Greg Mjelde slapped a solo homer in the first inning for Silver Bay's only run off Johnson who finished with nine strikeouts.
