East won the Big Ten Conference high school baseball championship without argument Monday while the state has been set for a battle of titans in District 28 on the Iron Range.

The Greyhounds whipped Proctor 7-0, thanks to a six-run seventh inning, for their sixth straight victory in the Big Ten. They close out the regular season by playing arch-rival Central at 4 p.m. today at Wade Stadium...

...Doug Ljungren hurled a two-hitter, striking out 10 as East won. Mark Lomen cracked two of the Greyhounds' seven hits. He also reached base twice on walks.
