Denfeld Ace Stops Hawks On No-Hitter

Knuckleballing Stan Kahn of Denfeld had his pitches butterflying against Hermantown as he hurled a 5-0 no-hit victory in the opening Big Ten Conference high school baseball game at Wade Municipal Stadium Thursday.

Kahn, who proved an outstanding pitcher with the Hunters last year, saw one of his knucklers rob him of a perfect game.

Kahn struck out 20 of 21 Hawks' batters he faced, but one of his pitches got away from his catcher after Hermantown's Tom Schilling struck out in the fourth inning. He was the only Hawks' base runner...

...Proctor, in a non-league game, beat Duluth Cathedral 9-4 at Proctor...

...John Dardis, who pitched the fourth and fifth innings, was credited with Proctor's victory over the Hilltoppers.

Butch [Erwin] Butler got two hits in three trips, and four RBI. Bill Downs also had a pair of hits in three trips with two RBI and played a good defensive [game] in the outfield. The Hilltoppers were held to four hits.
