'Topper nine beats Proctor

Tom Wilmers and Tom Gross combined for a one-hitter Tuesday and controlled a wild streak long enough to pitch Cathedral to an 8-4 high school baseball win over Proctor.

Proctor took advantage of five walks, two hit batsmen and four errors to score its runs, with Joe Gaboury managing the only hit off the Hilltopper moundsmen. Wilmers and Dave Katoski led Cathedral, 3-2 in the Lake Superior Conference, at the plate with two hits each. Proctor dropped its eighth decision in 10 outings.

The Rails managed only one hit against Cathedral Hilltopper pitching and went down to defeat, 8-4, at Proctor. Rails pitchers Mike Grover, Denny Gulbranson [, and] Dale Nikko gave up eight hits and six walks but were victimized by eight errors.
