MOOSE LAKE -- Dale Nikko and Bruce Lohman, two of the premier high school pitchers in the area, traded shutouts Saturday and Moose Lake and Proctor split a baseball twinbill.

Nikko, the Region 7AA tournament hero last year as a sophomore, pitched a one-hitter and struck out 12 to lead Proctor over the Lakers 13-0 in the opener. Lohman fanned 14 in the Lakers' 5-0 win in the nightcap. He allowed four hits and his teammates took advantage of only two hits to hike its [sic] record to 4-1. Pete Jubie had one of those hits and stole home for one of the Lakers' runs.

Lakers continue to do well

... A doubleheader against Proctor last Saturday found Coach Botsford with three pitchers with sore arms. Moose Lake lost the first game 12 to 0.

The Lakers settled down in the second game and won 5-0. Lohman went the whole way for the Lakers, sore arm and all. Proctor only got two hits off Lohman in that game to put his record at four wins and zero losses. Lakers are 4-1.
