Linstrom lead Superior to 9-4 win over Rails

Sophomore Mitch Linstrom went all the way on the mound in his first high school start Saturday and got the win as Superior Senior defeated Proctor 9-4. Linstrom also had three RBI as Superior raised its record to 8-3.
A suicide squeeze by Bob Archambault brought in Bob Oswsky from third, breaking a 4-all tie, as Superior went ahead to stay in the third inning. Steve Hendry added to the lead with a two-run homer in the fourth. The game was played at the Superior Babe Ruth field.

 

Superior Nine Topples Proctor

The Superior Senior High nine scored in each of the first five innings and romped to a 9-4 win over the Proctor High Rails Saturday morning at the Superior Babe Ruth Field.

The Spartans, winning their fifth game in a row, are 8-3 on the season.

Mitch Lindstrom, making his first mound start for SSHS, scattered nine hits. He fanned 10 men and walked one man.

Superior had nine hits off Denny Gulbranson and Dale Nikko of Proctor. No Spartan had more than one hit with Steve Hendry's two-run homer in the fourth inning as the big blow. The Proctor pitchers fanned seven men and walked four.

Each team had three errors.

Superior will tangle with Duluth Central at 5 p.m. Wednesday at Wade Stadium in Duluth.
