Early run gives East victory; Rails win 6th game in a row

LAKE NEBAGAMON, Wis. -- Proctor built a 5-0 lead Saturday and later held on to defeat Northwestern of Maple, Wis., 6-5. The win was the sixth straight for the Rails against one loss.

Proctor's Nik Peterson went 2-for-3 at the plate and the Rails stole eight bases to highlight the victory. Winning pitcher Bill Richardson tossed a six-hitter and struck out 11.

Norm Olson and Don Moreland each hit home runs for Northwestern.

Proctor Nips NW in Baseball

The Northwestern Tigers battled back from a 5-0 deficit, but still fell a run short as they suffered a 6-5 defeat at the hand of the Proctor Rails in non-conference baseball action last weekend at Lake Nebagamon.

The Tigers were led at the plate by Norm Olson and Don Moreland, both of whom belted home runs.

Proctor's Nik Peterson had a pair of hits to pace the winners. Bill Richardson was the winning pitcher, giving up six hits and striking out 11.

The Rails are now 6-1 on the season.
