CLOQUET -- Proctor's Jason Malec stopped Central on a no-hitter and struck out 12 as the Rails advanced to the Sub-Region 2 championship game with a 2-0 victory here Tuesday.

Proctor will meet Cloquet at 7 p.m. Friday for a berth in the Region 7AA tournament in Grand Rapids Tuesday and Wednesday next week.

Malec allowed only four base runners, two via walks. No Central runner reached second base in the seven-inning game.

Proctor, which only had three hits, broke up a scoreless game in the fifth. John Kuzas got a single off Central starter Reed Kolquist, was bunted to second on Dave Lockwood's sacrifice and went to third on an infield error. He scored on a wild pitch.
