Proctor blanks Cloquet for Northland championship
Jeff Buetow had two hits and the game-winning RBI on a sixth-inning single as host Proctor beat Cloquet 2-0 Saturday in the championship game of the Northland high school baseball tournament.
Mike Robertson pitched 6 2/3 innings and allowed six hits to win the game. He also drove in the other run for the Rails, 10-3.
In one semifinal game, Proctor beat Duluth Denfeld 9-0 as Chris Kindgren pitched a no-hitter, striking out 11. Rick LaLonde had three hits and two RBI and Todd Vanneste had two hits for the Rails.
In the other semifinal, Scott Sorenson pitched a four-hitter and struck out 10 as Cloquet stopped Hibbing 7-2. Brad Takkunen hit a single and a double for the Lumberjacks.
