Error help, hurt Rails baseball

Errors both helped and hurt the Rails' baseball team last week. Ten errors allowed Proctor to score 16 runs that included 13 unearned runs against Virginia. Five errors against Chisago Lakes hindered the Rails.

Kyle Wojtysiak was 1-for-3 with one run scored and Dan Solarz was 1-for-3 with one run scored and one RBI as the Rails fell to Eveleth-Gilbert 9 - 3 in the season opener for the Rails.

"This game was direct evidence that if you can throw the ball and catch the ball, you can win any game. Eveleth was better at that and came away with the win," Head Coach Tim Rohweder said.

"We did a nice job at the plate, but kept hitting the ball right at their fielders. It was frustrating, but a good eye-opener for our team as we enter a new season," remarked Rohweder.
