Error help, hurt Rails baseball

Errors both helped and hurt the Rails' baseball team last week. Ten errors allowed Proctor to score 16 runs that included 13 unearned runs against Virginia. Five errors against Chisago Lakes hindered the Rails.

Proctor took the early lead in the first inning but Chisago Lakes came back with a vengeance. Chisago scored five runs in both the second and third innings and four in the fourth.

Kyle Wojtysiak had two runs scored and Paul Michelizzi had a two-run double in the fifth.

"Although we started out strong, we needed to play seven flawless innings to beat this team, which is one of the best in the Rum River Conference and in Class AAA," [coach] Rohweder observed. "In making five errors on the game, we shot ourselves in the foot enough to allow them the opportunity to have some big innings. We will need to improve our play-making abilities to hope to contend for a Section 7AA championship this season."
