Rails baseball team showing potential

It was a tough sixth week of the baseball season for the Rails as they went 1-3.

Spartans 6, Rails 2

Superior had eight hits to defeat the Rails 6-2. Kyle Wojtysiak and Scott Lustig scored the two runs for the Rails in the fifth and Dan Solarz had two hits in the game and one RBI for Proctor. Paul Michelizzi [sic] posted the loss [the box score shows starter Solarz as the losing pitcher, with two innings pitched. [Blake Reinke] tossed four innings of relief.]

"This game was a product of our pitching being inconsistent and our hitters running into a hot pitcher in Brett Olson," Coach Tim Rohweder observed. "Olson kept our hitters off balance the whole game with good velocity on his fastball and good movement on his breaking ball. Defensively, we had a hard time finding strikes with our pitchers all game, which resulted in walks and runs scored."
